It was a museum day. The Newseum was awesome according to Mr. Ferries, and many of the students agreed. They may ask you to bring them back...2 hrs is just enough to wet their appetite. Then it was on to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum where they tested their knowledge of physics in the
How Things Fly exhibit, and ate lunch at the country's busiest McDonalds. After exiting the museum, and walking to the American History Museum, they were treated to Rolling Thunder; a convergence of 250,000 motorcycle driving veterans that meet in D.C. every year on Memorial Day. The "vroom vroom of the motorcycles was deafening" says Mr. Ferries. At the American History Museum students saw everything from Lincoln's stovepipe hat to Dorothy's ruby slippers. Off to dinner where things got a little fishy at Phillip's Seafood Buffet. Many student's branched out their tasting palettes to corn dogs and french fries. We concluded the evening at the Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts where we saw a hilarious play
Shear Madness "we laughed so hard our sides ached" some commented.
Tomorrow we start the day on a somber note with a visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum. Then its lunch and off to Gettysburg....
