Day 4... A Day of Rememberance

Fittingly, we started with the FDR memorial, which depicts his four terms in office. The third term focuses on our involvement in WWII and FDR's hatred of war. From there we went to the American Holocaust Memorial Museum where we saw the toll of war on humanity. It was a moving and solemn experience for the students. Many students left, changed by the experience. It was back on the bus, for a 2 hour ride to Gettysburg. Our bus driver, Bud, was kind enough to purchase the Gettysburg DVD, so Mr. Graham could finish the movie he started in his classroom. Once in Gettysburg the students got an introduction to the battlefields that they will have an opportunity to explore tomorrow. Dinner was at historic Dobin house. The evening brought us fireflys, lightning, and a back road tour of some stops on the Underground Railroad.

Its late, we're tired, and its off to bed. We'll download some pics for you tomorrow morning.
